|I'm fighting with one of the BGP routers working on Bird 1.5. On kernel 4.1.15 everything works stable until I start any network monitoring tool, eg. Iptraf or tcpdump. Then router immediately kernel panic fatal exception in interrput.
For kernel 4.4.6 kernel panic occurs immediately after Bird establish a sessions and higher network traffc.
All of the above is not the case when I uses the historical kernel of 2.6. Therefore I think is out a hardware problem but I could be wrong.
The platform is HP DL320 Gen8 v2 with Intel X520 card. Maybe the problem is ixgbe driver and promiscuous mode?
Does it make sense to use realtime kernel for routers? This may solve the problem? Turning off ACPI nothing change.
