I am a bit in a hurry. I will have a proper look into later.

xev tool and acpi_listen does not throw me the expected events, but I see it works.

How do I properly read out those acpi events?

I pressed several times keyboard backlight up and down, touchpad toggle key, it does as it should. first two rows are from the sleep button, please ignore it.

Code:
ASUS-G75VW roman # acpi_listen
button/sleep SBTN 00000080 00000000
button/sleep PNP0C0E:00 00000080 00000002
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000
 PNP0C14:00 000000ff 00000000

in comparison with those speaker special keys

Code:
ASUS-G75VW roman # acpi_listen
button/mute MUTE 00000080 00000000 K
button/volumedown VOLDN 00000080 00000000 K
button/volumeup VOLUP 00000080 00000000 K

This is a part of my .i3 config, i use i3wm window manager. AS you can see, my box now throws those events, but i do not see it in system messages (tail -f /var/log/messages) or with acpi_listen or xev tool

Quote:

#toggle the touchpad
bindsym XF86TouchpadToggle exec " if [ $(synclient -l | grep TouchpadOff | awk '{print $3}') == 1 ] ; then synclient touchpadoff=0; else synclient touchpadoff=1; fi "

#set backlight of the keyboard
#values 1,2,3 are allowed, and 0 for off. i need to code something
bindsym XF86KbdBrightnessUp exec "echo 2 > /sys/class/leds/asus\:\:kbd_backlight/brightness"
bindsym XF86KbdBrightnessDown exec "echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/asus\:\:kbd_backlight/brightness"

The effects are working
