I just finished installing GNOME 3 with dantrell's guide to GNOME without systemd and It booted up with a white flicker at the top of my monitor and I couldn't log in with my regular user so I logged in with root. Everything looks normal except when I click on terminal it starts loading but doesn't start up.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Moved from Desktop Environments to Unsupported Software. Note that this is more of an accounting move rather than a statement that you will not get support. We have a lot of Gentoo users that are experimenting with this configuration.

GNOME has been buggy and completely impractical ever since GNOME 3. Try using a different login manager like lightdm and check /var/log and ~/.xsession-errors for any issues there (and any log files that .xsession-errors points to.)
