Anyone know how I can clock my monitor's hertz up and down in Xorg? I'm struggling to find any answers for amd/ati cards.

If you created your own xorg.conf modelines, you'll have to work them manually.

If you run a Desktop Environment, most have a display options GUI to change it.

If you run with an empty xorg.conf and have xrandr enabled, you can xrandr -r FF where FF is your desired refresh rate. It must be of one the autodetected modes read from your monitor. I had it do some bad stuff if you have more than one monitor, might be easier to muck with it with a DE which will tend to have an autorevert back to usable settings.

Thanks it worked like a charm. Xrandr solved the issue for me; I was trying to edit the monitor xorg line for cvt and had troubles. Now I could get increased hertz with 1024x76 something. I'll try to overclock it by like 5 on 1080 p and see how it goes.
