Welcome to Gentoo!

Sorry you had such an unfortunate introduction. Generally our package management is very good but occasionally things get out of step. This warning is saying that the source files downloaded from the server don't match the expected file so they won't be installed. Basically, this prevents a malicious edit from being unknowingly installed. Most likely what happened is that the sources where updated legitimately but the hash in the ebuild wasn't updated yet.

If you sync again tomorrow and try again it will probably be gone. If you want to do this tonight try emerge -1av =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.1.15-r1 to grab the slightly older kernel sources. The -1 stands for --oneshot which prevents the world file from becoming cluttered, a stands for ask, and v stands for verbose. Afterwards you will probably want to use emerge --select gentoo-sources so you get proper updates.

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box.

Doctor, excuse me for correcting you.
If I read the bug report correctly, we (the Gentoo community) are currently bitten by a bug that causes updated Changelogs not to be synced.

Hi Budalas,

Yes, you can.
That's also the emergency procedure when you later happen to break stuff and cannot boot anymore.
Boot from the live CD, mount everything, chroot and repair stuff.
