So i tried to install gentoo for the second time in a different laptop HP Probook 6460b/Intel i5 processor. so i went like the first time i did this, i thought what could go wrong?
well after the reboot it loaded and went to grub but showed me:
Code:
error: unknown filesystem.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>

Well i go and look and some tell me that i need to use the ls command to see the list of partitions and i get
Code:

(hd0) (hd0,gpt4) (hd0,gpt3) (hd0,gpt2) (hd0,gpt1)

then i try to access any of them but i still get the error: unknown filesystem.

Code:

grub rescue> ls (hd0,gpt2)/
error: unknown filesystem.

I also tried to boot from livecd but it goes directly to grub ignoring my boot order

Try to load the corresponding file system module in grub rescue mode using insmod.

Which grub are you using?

You may have used the wrong file system for your boot partition.

You may chroot again and check if everything is according to the gentoo handbook.

If so you may than share:

how your partitons are created. e.g. fdisk -l /dev/sda

config file of your bootloader e.g. grub.cfg

Which guide you used for installing your box e.g. gentoo handbook

is this a MBR laptop or UEFI laptop? This makes a difference and changes a bit the installation procedure.
