I'm having trouble booting into a luks root block device with a detached header.

I have placed my header into my cpio file and I can boot from the rescue shell manually, typing cryptsetup, lvm vgchange, etc... (kernel and cpio file are unencrypted on another block device)

I'm trying to send luks=pwd... and lvm=... parameters from grub and I'm unable to boot from it, mkinitramfs-ll image thinks that the encrypted block device is not a valid device to try to unlock it and it gets into an infinite loop going nowhere.

I'm using mkinitramfs-ll and I'm asking if someone is using this cpio file generator and sucessfully booting from a headerless luks, or what other cpio file generator are you using, did you have to roll you own (custom)?

I'm trying not to make a custom init and relying on known customizable command line parameters as to make updating easier.

For more info, I've tried contacting the author here:
https://github.com/tokiclover/mkinitramfs-ll/issues/41
but I'd like to have some feedback from the community, thank you all!

RayOfLight ... I'm using better-initramfs for luks encrypted root with lvm, I'm not doing headerless but it should be easy to add support to do this via a simple change to cryptsetup_args="" in functions.sh ... this bug report is a request for this feature, and should point you in the right direction.

HTH & best ... khay
