Hi is my first time installing Gentoo so i dont know a lot about the process, ive done it through handbook and a tut video.

Im having problems with emer -xorg-server on virtual box.

My /etc/portage/make.conf looks as follows.

Code:

PORTDIR="/usr/portage"
DISTDIR="${PORTDIR}/distfiles"
PKGDIR="{PORTDIR}/packages"
VIDEO_CARDS="virtualbox"
INPUT_DEVICES="evdev"
GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.lug.udel.edu/pub"gentoo/ "

and when I do the command emerge -xorg-server it throws me the next error

!!!PORTAGE_BINHOST unset, but use is requested.
!!! '-xor-serer' is not a valid pacake atom.
!!!Please check ebuild (5) for full details.

Already tried many things but nothing seems to work.

You will have better chance with
Code:
emerge -av xorg-server

and than press Enter if it's ok.

The a switch mean ask and the v one mean verbose. I always proceed with those switchs to be able to choose to emerge or not and to see the USE flags on and off of every packages who will be install. I only press Enter if I like it as it is.
Code:
emerge -av xterm
