Seems the cause is an kernel 4.9 issue resulting in the line

Using a 4.4 kernel enables the card reader

I hope someone will be able to direct me in the right direction.
It's been some time since I've used the sd card reader on my Acer netbook and today I get this:

[/code] The only thing I found on google was an old issue with firmware so I installed linux-firmware but to no joy. This is my emerge info.:[code]
