Hi,

I am trying to create a running Mopidy server on my raspberry.

For the Raspberry/Gentoo isntall i followed:
http://www.ukginger.net/Gentoo2/

Now, i am trying to install mopidy. Mopidy intself seems to work , but installing a web-fronted using PiP fails:
Code:

 pip install Mopidy-Jukepi
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python-exec/python2.7/pip", line 9, in <module>
    load_entry_point('pip==7.1.2', 'console_scripts', 'pip')()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 561, in load_entry_point
    return get_distribution(dist).load_entry_point(group, name)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 2649, in load_entry_point
    return ep.load()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 2303, in load
    return self.resolve()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 2309, in resolve
    module = __import__(self.module_name, fromlist=['__name__'], level=0)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pip/__init__.py", line 19, in <module>
    from pip._vendor.requests.packages.urllib3.exceptions import (
ImportError: No module named urllib3.exceptions

My question is :
How can I solve this ?

Also, what to do with all the version of Python ?

My more general questions would be :
- How can I in general intall Mopidy on a Gentoo Raspberry machine?
- What is ideal for a raspberry if i want to install Mopidy ?
- Can I install Mopidy in a virual env ? ( and is this useful, in such a way it all become easier?)
- Why should i (according to Mopidy guidelines) install Mopidy using pid as root ? Cant i be a 'mopidy' user?
- And in general : How to determine problems that are due to the arm nature of the Pi vs general problems 'just because they are ther with mopidy'

Thanks for any information, hint, or advise,

Alex.

lexflex,

If you run pip as root, it will break your Gentoo install.

urllib3 is provided by
Code:
$ equery b urllib3
 * Searching for urllib3 ...
dev-python/urllib3-1.21.1 (/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/urllib3)
dev-python/urllib3-1.21.1 (/usr/lib64/python3.4/site-packages/urllib3)

Does
Code:
emerge dev-python/urllib3
fix the Import Error?

-- edit --

There is an ebuild for media-sound/mopidy in the procyon overlay, its keyworded
Code:
KEYWORDS="~amd64"

If layman and package.accept.keywords is not enough of a hint, post back.

Yes, indeed it doesn't look like a good idea, but the Mopidy install guide explicitly says so.

urllib 3 is installed, and still the problem occured:
Code:
 # eix dev-python/urllib3
[I] dev-python/urllib3
     Available versions:  1.12 1.16 (~)1.20^t (~)1.21.1^t {doc test PYTHON_TARGETS="pypy pypy3 python2_7 python3_4 python3_5 python3_6"}
     Installed versions:  1.21.1^t(08:50:42 06/04/17)(-doc -test PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 -pypy -pypy3 -python3_4 -python3_5 -python3_6")
     Homepage:            https://github.com/shazow/urllib3
     Description:         HTTP library with thread-safe connection pooling, file post, and more

I somehow have the feeling the various versions of python are causing this problem ( combined with my unfortunate use of PiP). Anyhow, I will try the ebuild first since that sounds like a much better plan.

Thanks,
Alex.
