USB stopped working on two system. lsusb does not show anything.
Code:
# lspci | grep -i usb
00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 06)
00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 06)
# lsusb
#
An strace shows that I have missing entries????
Code:
open("/dev/bus/usb", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/proc/bus/usb", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/dev", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = 4

Have you updated your kernel recently...?

I only ask because when I went to 4.12 all my USB stuff stopped working too - I realised they'd added another kernel option which defaulted to N, which didn't exist before and is required for PCI-based USB controllers to work.

Do you recall the name of the option and/or where it is located?

Let me see....

Device Drivers -> USB Support -> PCI based USB host interface (CONFIG_USB_PCI)
