I'm new in Gentoo, and I have tried to install it 3 times.I've read the wiki of USE,but there is too many USE flags to be configed.I'm going to use xfce as the DE and systemd to manage system service. So what profile should I select, and what USE flags should Iadd or remove in the make.conf

If you are new to Gentoo, don't worry too much about use flags at first. The default desktop profile should be fine to get you started.

After you've gotten your system installed, if you want to explore use flags some more, emerge ufed and run ufed as root from the command line. Space bar selects/deselects use flags, switching them between [-] (do not use at all), [+] (always use) and ( ) (not selected either way). Hit enter and select Y/N to save - it will save to /etc/portage/make.conf. After you change your use flags, run:
Code:

emerge -vuDN @system @world

This will recompile anything that uses the changes you just made.

But again, don't get hung up on it when installing Gentoo for the first time. Get your system up and running, and then enjoy learning to tweak it.

You should consider using the desktop/systemd profile then. :-)

@arkli: You can create a custom profile based on default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop and default/linux/amd64/13.0/systemd

See https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Profile_(Portage)#Combining_profiles for more details.
