Hi:

Since I upgraded the kernel to 4.12 (as an upgrade came out), I can't boot and cannot mount the root partition (which is btrfs). I upgraded it with genkernel.

With older releases (i.e. the previous stable, 4.9.34), this doesn't happen and boots normally.

This is my kernel config file: https://paste.pound-python.org/show/QmvuHAQttHu7Ns9gxj8F/

And this is my /etc/fstab https://paste.pound-python.org/show/qInlf7pt5AOIodalVCZI/

And my Grub file: https://paste.pound-python.org/show/T5ZVJjOwcsdJXpW5EyDN/

Thanks!

PS: I reported the bug in https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=627808 , and the version in question is 4.12.5

Just tried with 4.12.7 and the issue is the same. And I don't know how to use the git bisect :(
Meanwhile, I'm still using 4.9.34

See https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Kernel_git-bisect

i have boot & root on btrfs subvolume. boots successfully and seems ok overall, but some glitches. wifi connects and disconnects soon after. i can manually connect but it disconnects again little later.

i used the same .config from previous stable 4.9.32. no issues there. so i have reverted back from 4.12.5 as this is my main system.

I found a workaround to get rid of that. The culprit is BFQ.

So I removed the "elevator=bfq" from the kernel lines in GRUB and now it boots normally. But I lost the bfq features.

I hope it helps. Tested with kernel 4.12.12.

EDIT: If you want to use BFQ with other way, do this: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/375600/how-to-enable-and-use-the-bfq-scheduler
