Code:
localhost ~ # emerge -pv linux-firmware

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R    ] sys-kernel/linux-firmware-20170314::gentoo  USE="-savedconfig" 42,164 KiB

...

localhost ~ # ll /lib/firmware/radeon | grep KAVERI
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   8576 Jul  7 12:06 KAVERI_ce.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   8576 Jul  7 12:06 KAVERI_me.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  16768 Jul  7 12:06 KAVERI_mec.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   8576 Jul  7 12:06 KAVERI_pfp.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  10240 Jul  7 12:06 KAVERI_rlc.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   4200 Jul  7 12:06 KAVERI_sdma.bin

You probably would start with this set of firmware blobs
in your kernel.

edit: or rather with this bunch of binary blobs for the
kernels >= 3.17 (see radeon in gentoo wiki https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Radeon)
Code:
localhost ~ # ll /lib/firmware/radeon | grep kaveri
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   8832 Jul  7 12:06 kaveri_ce.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   8832 Jul  7 12:06 kaveri_me.bin

Make sure you have VGA or EFI framebuffer built in, build it as a module the first time, and grep dmesg to find out which firmware it tries to load. This should work for all cards.

Hello i totally forgot about this thread. I solved this by adding radeonsi to video_cards.
Firmware was already fine.
