Good afternoon. I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz. Yesterday, while I was compiling dev-util/electron, after some time - checking with htop - my load average in the last 1, 5 and 15 minutes was above 6, almost 7. MAKEOPTS is set to -j5 as suggested in the Handbook. Should I lower it?

alogim, there's nothing wrong with a load average of 6 if you have 4 cores. The load average is the average number of processes using or waiting for CPU (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_%28computing%29).

Unless you have very little RAM or you experience performance problems with other applications you're working with, there is no reason to lower the number of parallel make jobs (option -j).
