I'm trying to install Gentoo, but can't connect to Wifi. My wifi adapter is the RTL8188CUS, and it has a kernel driver (plug and play on Arch). lsmod shows that the driver is loaded, and ip link shows the interface, but wpa_supplicant won't connect. It says that the key sent from the 4 way handshake failed. Thoughts?

RTL8188CUS would be Realtek, correct? If I recall all those require firmware not included on the minimal install CD. In fact, saying the minimal install CD supports wireless is a bit misleading.

Install via the system rescue CD and install linux-firmware on your install.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this, but the driver must be built as a module or the firmware must be built into the kernel or it won't work.

I'm already using the LiveUSB image, should I try using a different distro's live image?
