See https://pastebin.com/xYrY2XQA

I tossed out wine and tried to ebuild wine-vanilla.

I've had some builds run so slow that I thought they had hung, but this one was stuck for over twelve hours right at the last compilation shown. I had to toss out a lot of output to get pastebin to work.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Justanother, what is the current status (still no install yet?)...

I'm sorry, getting to look at this kinda late, but if it helps to know that I personally have had many similar issues when installing wine. And I've installed it a bunch of times. A while ago I even went as far as to make a inquiry on this forum about how to "freeze" in a sense the working version of it because it can be frustrating to have a package work the way you want one day, and then risk having it update only to find that many of the other operating system's programs don't like the newer version.

Just a few quick questions before going into further depth...

1) have you installed wine before (a working version hopefully)?
2) what profile are you using in your gentoo machine?
3) when you installed, was the command a simple emerge command, and could you post whatever that was...hopefully it also takes advantage of the upstream options for things like Staging and Commits which the wiki does a decent job explaining.

Final Thought
Keep in mind that besides just altering the build environment, these are important variables since things will always get a little more complicated with this piece of software since it does rely on having a 32-bit environment, available.

Hopefully this is a helpful place to start... Finally (really), be sure to include any rationale or reason for not using the live ebuild for any one of these, other than the basic fact that it may need to be unmasked (I personally have seen little to no issues when using those as opposed to attempting to be on top of the matter of versions for this highly developed software).

Looks like I forgot to mention this here the first time I was around, but I'd probably look into Bug 613128 - app-emulation/wine compilation hang for versions >=1.9.22 with gcc-5.4.0.

The GCC version doesn't match, so it might be something completely different, but I'd definitely take a look at least.

Code:
eselect profile list
says:
[3] default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop *

I had the old version installed and threw it off to install the new version using

Code:
emerge -av app-emulation/wine-vanilla
