I am trying to install palemoon via the palemoon-overlay overlay, currently using GCC4.9.4 since it's supposed to be supported

It fails to compile, here's the error

Code:

26:27.69 ../../build/unix/gold/ld: error: /storage/tmp/portage/www-client/palemoon-27.6.1/work/palemoon-27.6.1/o/toolkit/library/../../media/libstagefright/Unified_cpp_media_libstagefright0.o: requires dynamic R_X86_64_PC32 reloc against '_Z13GetDemuxerLogv' which may overflow at runtime; recompile with -fPIC
26:27.69 ../../build/unix/gold/ld: error: read-only segment has dynamic relocations
26:27.69 /storage/tmp/portage/www-client/palemoon-27.6.1/work/palemoon-27.6.1/media/libstagefright/binding/MoofParser.cpp:728: error: undefined reference to 'GetDemuxerLog()'
26:27.69 /storage/tmp/portage/www-client/palemoon-27.6.1/work/palemoon-27.6.1/media/libstagefright/binding/MoofParser.cpp:735: error: undefined reference to 'GetDemuxerLog()'
26:27.69 /storage/tmp/portage/www-client/palemoon-27.6.1/work/palemoon-27.6.1/media/libstagefright/binding/MoofParser.cpp:591: error: undefined reference to 'GetDemuxerLog()'
26:27.69 /storage/tmp/portage/www-client/palemoon-27.6.1/work/palemoon-27.6.1/media/libstagefright/binding/MoofParser.cpp:599: error: undefined reference to 'GetDemuxerLog()'
26:27.69 collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

That's the error message from building 27.6.1, but both builds produce the exact same error.

Can't seem to find good information on how to fix this using Google.

Use gcc 6.4, worked for me. Failed with 7.2, though.

tried it with bfd, but the gold error is still present, and causes the build to fail, what USE flags are you using for your build?
