Hi all.

It's been a long time I mounted ISO images manually instead of using my click-o-drome so bear with me. I've just tried to loop-mount an ISO image and I got an error message "operation not permitted". It took me some guessing and trials to finally get that I had to load the loop module. I expected that running the following instruction would:
Code:
mount -o loop /path/to/image.iso /mnt/cdrom

Is it me or is there something wrong?

I think it might be normal... I usually compile this in and skip the module, but what does "losetup -f" say when you don't load them? I'm guessing it won't respond with "/dev/loop0".

modules are autoload generally by dev manager, and it match an hardware id with its module.
no hardware use loop, so don't count on udev & friends to do that job.

i think binfmt_misc can do that for you (you can use a script that when .iso format is detect, it load loop, and mount the .iso), but if you build binfmt_misc support as module, you'll have to load it before and you're in a loop :D
On more serious note, i'm just using a script that load loop module and attach the iso to a predefine path, to not forget loading loop
