Hello. I have problem trying to load modules to access temperature sensors. I know that in some instances its better to load asus_atk0110 over it87 in /etc/modules-load.d/lm_sensors.conf but whichever module i try to load I always get same message in dmesg
Code:
[ 2720.689895] hwmon: exports duplicate symbol devm_hwmon_device_register_with_groups (owned by kernel)

Google isn't much of help in this case.
fx8350
Sabretooth 990fx
Code:

uname -r
4.14.13-gentoo

da_weed,

You have made a mess of your kernel install.
Code:
exports duplicate symbol devm_hwmon_device_register_with_groups (owned by kernel)

It appears that you have a module built as a module and built into the kernel at the same time.
This happens if you start off with the code built in, then later you build it as a module but don't reinstall the kernel binary to /boot.
Maybe you forgot to
Code:
mount /boot

Does the time and date in
Code:
uname -a
look like your most recent kernel kernel build date/time?

Well i don't know how to say it... I did mount /boot but what i didn't do is to issue make install after make && make modules_install
I think there isn't much point in keeping this thread here now.
Thank you anyway NeddySeagoon

da_weed,

Its actually quite a popular error, mixing kernel binaries and modules that don't belong to the running kernel.

We don't delete threads. Someone else will be along later and may see this thread before they post.
