Hello all. This is my first time installing Gentoo, so I expected some errors.
Following the installation guide, I ran
Code:
mount —rbind /sys /mnt/gentoo/sys

Code:
mount —make-rslave /sys /mnt/gentoo/sys

However, I was met with the error,
Code:
mount: /mnt/gentoo/sys: /sys is not a block device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As a general rule, you should link to the instructions you were following when you encountered an error. It saves prospective helpers from the trouble of finding those instructions, and the risk that they read a different page than you did. In this case, I found Mounting the necessary filesystems which looks similar, but not the same. Is this the guide you followed? The instructions say:
Code:
mount --make-rslave /mnt/gentoo/sys
Your example includes a spurious /sys not shown in the instructions. Was this a transcription error on your part? If not, does it work if you follow the instructions shown in the Wiki?
