[Moderator note: this thread originally had the title virtualbox-modules build. I changed it to included the poster's version and error message. The title lacks room to include the failed path. -Hu]

Hello all,
I'm trying to install virtualbox-bin, and virtualbox-modules is giving me some trouble at the beginning of the emerge. A nontrivial amount of googling and poking has left me stumped so far. I did try rebuilding my kernel with umask 022, but this didn't help. The permissions to /usr/src/linux-4.15.11-gentoo look okay afaict, but it doesn't seem like I should open up any kind of write perms here for the portage user.

Any ideas are appreciated.
