I am planning to order parts for a new Intel X299 based Gentoo system and the motherboard has an Intel I210-AT ethernet port and an Intel I219-LM ethernet port. What kernel modules will I use for each port or where is there a database that would answer this? (I can not use 'lspci -k' to get this information as I don't have the motherboard yet.) After grepping through /usr/src/linux I would GUESS e1000 for the I210 and e1000e for the I219???

Thanks

You're right about e100e for the I219, there is a note about adding support in 3.4.0.2 here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/e1000/files/e1000e%20stable/3.4.0.2/

I'm not sure about the I210-AT.

Regards

The I210 uses e1000 AFAIK. For Intel you should usually compile e1000, e1000e and igb. If your kernel is recent enough it will be automatically detected and work OOTB (Out Of The Box), since Intel cards work generally really well on Linux.
