i have googled and read the emerge man page, but can't find how to list all installed packages.

bash: eix-installed: command not found


i suppose that is a 3rd party tool. isn't there a gentoo base tool for this purpose?

ls will also work:

eix (app-portage/eix) needs to be installed. equery (app-portage/gentoolkit) too. Both can show what you want.

app-portage/portage-utils is installed by default in most system profiles these days. qlist -I will list all packages installed, qlist -Iv will include versions.
