Hi,

I'm trying to install Gentoo with full disk encryption and lvm.
I have followed the instructions here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Full_Disk_Encryption_From_Scratch_Simplified
But I'm having a problem booting up. It seems that the boot process is not finding my root directory which is on the encrypted lvm.
After dropping into the emergency shell, I try loading up the encryption lvm manually (using cryptsetup) and I get an error saying: check that kernel supports aes-xts-plain64 cipher.

I've tried a bunch of different things I found online. I've added every conceivable option I can think of to the kernel. I'm out of ideas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply. Here's the .config I used to build my kernel: https://pastebin.com/A3TqguUV
To build the kernel, I used the command:
Code:
genkernel --luks --lvm --no-zfs --menuconfig all
.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very stuck. Please, let me know if I can post anything else.

The netbooks CPU is AMD APU a6-6310 with hw AES support.

The genkernel commandline:

Code:
genkernel initramfs --lvm --luks --busybox --udev

Openrc, no systemd, but I compile kernel by "make menuconfig" and "make && make modules_install" way.

I hope this will help.

EDIT:
Since this is an UEFI machine - the efibootmgr instead of grub:
Code:
efibootmgr -d /dev/sda -p 1 -c -L "Gentoo Linux" -l /kernel-eclipse-x86_64-4.18.13-gentoo -u "initrd=/initramfs-eclipse-x86_64-4.18.13-gentoo crypt_root=UUID=c0848674-82a6-4df8-869c-1a5c05f0c4b0 dolvm real_root=UUID=4b2465e2-cab5-413f-aed5-d127557ec3ef rootfstype=ext4 rw real_resume=/dev/mapper/cryptvg-swap pcie_aspm=force elevator=bfq quiet amdgpu.dc=1 amdgpu.dpm=1 root_trim=yes"
