I've got a laptop with the following hardware specs:
Code:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HQ CPU @ 2.90GHz, 2901 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
VGA: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
3D: Intel(R) HD Graphics 630
PCIe Controller: Intel(R) Xeon(R) E3 - 1200/1500 v5/6th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) PCIe Controller (x16)
Wireless Adapter: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
Ethernet Adatper: Realtek USB GbE Family Controller

when I boot the Gentoo minimal iso in the VMware for instalation, I get the following hardware specs:
Code:

VideoCard: VMware SVGA II Adapter
Detected 2 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HQ CPU @ 2.90GHz, 2901 Mhz

This is my make.conf: http://dpaste.com/25ZNGCB

This is the LLVM failing compilation log: http://dpaste.com/2QT6KFA
This is the LLVM environment file: http://dpaste.com/2PQ10M0

I don't know why on earth it's failing, I've tried building both with -march=native and -march=broadwell, also tried increasing the jobs to 2, but all these didn't bring any results...

Could someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I'm just trying to install Gentoo inside VMware workstation (Gentoo installation in VMware guest).

Ouch. So I'll have to increase Memory.

I gave it 1024 MB of RAM, 1 CPU (2 cores), what should be enough?

Do I have to change the MAKEOPTS="-j2" from my make.conf as well?

Memory requirements increase with the number of jobs. If you are memory constrained, reducing the number of parallel jobs can reduce memory pressure, which may let you build with less RAM.

Noted.

Thank you guys, I've increased the RAM to 4096 and it went through successfully.
