Hello everyone,

I am still new to Gentoo, and i am willing to master it even if it takes lots of time.

Here's my question : i tried to update my packages with the following command.

Code:
 sudo emerge --ask --verbose --update --deep --newuse @world

But errors occured and i don't know how to handle them.

List of errors :

Code:

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously.  If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

The following packages are causing rebuilds:

    (dev-libs/rasqal-0.9.33:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

The following USE changes are necessary to proceed:
 (see "package.use" in the portage(5) man page for more details)
# required by sys-kernel/genkernel-3.5.3.3::gentoo
# required by @selected
# required by @world (argument)
>=sys-apps/util-linux-2.33-r1 static-libs

So i tried to create a package.use file to include static-libs for util-linux but more and more errors occured after that so i decided to cancel this change.

Can someone tell me what should i understand here and how to fix it ?

Thanks in advance.

ruby23 targets is incompatible with openssl-1.1 but is removed from target.
Remove all ruby_targets_ruby23 entries in package.use, remove ruby23 targets in make.conf if exists that run
Code:
# emerge -UD @world

after that depclean should propose that you remove ruby23
