I thought about upgrading my gentoo server which is running since years without any upgrade.
I gave it a shot with the current gentoo, but my machine wont boot randomly. It hangs at different stages when not booting.
In the syslog i find the following:
|Jan 26 10:51:31 gentoo kernel: [ 1.760017] [drm:fw_domains_get] *ERROR* render: timed out waiting for forcewake ack request.
Jan 26 10:51:31 gentoo kernel: [ 1.761013] [drm:intel_uncore_init] *ERROR* GT thread status wait timed out
I read here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/81218/how-can-i-stop-timed-out-waiting-for-forcewake-old-ack-to-clear
that this is a kernel bug which got fixed by a patch that should be included in the kernel.
I resynct and rebuilt the kernel, but i still have the same problem.
What do i have to do to get it running?
Asus P8H67i pro
Got it: Had to compile the i915 as module, not integrated into the kernel.
Now it boots reliable.
