Hi,

I just installed Gentoo profile 17.0x86/Desktop, and compiled the kernel and all that, but the wireless adapter isn't showing with ifconfig only ethernet0 (it was shown on systemrescuecd) while when I put lspci, the adapter is shown.

It's Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565/AR9565. What should I do to make it work?

When I compiled the kernel I checked Qualcom Atheros WiFi devices, while nothing on the submenu (because it my wifi model wasn't on the list).

cocobanana69,

That's ath9k in the kernel. 9k meaning all the 9xxx range.

May I fix that by loading a module? And which one should I load?

Also I have Atheros AR3012 bluetooth, but I didn't saw bluetooth configuration in kernel configmenu.

Other devices I have:
-Asus Xonar U3 usb sound card
-Fushicai USBTV007 Video Grabber (probably I'll need EasyCap modules)
-DragonRise PC Twinshock gamepad (I checked the generic gamepad in kernel configmenu-or it was written something like generic I'm not sure)

and I'm not sure if I need additional module for the AMD E1-2500 1.4GHz dual-core APU with Radeon HD 8240 graphics (listed as Kabini) to work perfect? - I checked all the AMD/ATI/Radeon options in kernel configmenu, for processor type I've checked Athlon x64/K8 (I'm talking about 32bit i686 compiling not x64).

I'll also read the systemd manual from Gentoowiki in detail about loading modules at boot but any quick info about fixing this thing with modules please.

Also, is there any quick tip on how to correctly recognize the hardware components with the ones in kernel configmenu?
Or something like a website that I can list the hardware and correctly match with the ones on the kernel configmenu?

Something like a bash script that determines the cpu and devices and which modules are used, and gives output with hardware information (including the names/titles matching with the ones in kernel configmenu, inculding the processor family name matched with the ones with configmenu) and even for a laptop webcam, laptop keyboard and touchpad/mouse, usb devices and so on?

-about a bash script for this purpose, I've found this article interesting http://swift.siphos.be/linux_sea/kernelbuilding.html especially in kernel modules section.

Also I have found this script which is supposed to give modules information:

Code:
for i in `find /sys/ -name modalias -exec cat {} \;`; do
        /sbin/modprobe --config /dev/null --show-depends $i ;
done | rev | cut -f 1 -d '/' | rev | sort -u

It gives me ACPI error messages when I "sudo sh modules.sh" (this) script on the other PC with Linux Mint installed, so I got to an idea if someone can write such script to verify if kernel is perfectly hardware compatible after compiling for gentoo linux (I mean if kernel is perfectly configured and compiled for the current computer in use).

Thanks,
