I have a new AMD build(6 months old) and I get random ext4 errors where the sata ssd(deadloop scheduler is set). It has happened every since I built it.

Does anyone know about a bug with ext4? I read this article https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Linux-4.19-EXT4-Issue-Likely-MQ . I have MQ disabled on mine with kernel 4.15 but the errors will still happen.

If it's not a ext4 bug then I will have to probably buy another motherboard. But since I came across this article I thought I would ask first.

Kernel 4.15 is EOL, if you mean 4.14, make sure you're running 4.14.109 as there was recently an EXT4 corruption fix:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/fs/ext4/file.c?id=372a03e01853f860560eade508794dd274e9b390

Sorry, I am not fully understanding. If the patch was put in 4.14 wouldn't it be in 4.15 and later?

The kernel 4.15 reached eol on Dec 9, 2018 and no longer gets updates. The kernel 4.14 has not reached eol and still gets updates.

It was not put in v4.14. It was put in v5.0, then backported to some stable kernels as part of a patch release. Specifically, for the v4.14.x series, it is in patch release 4.14.109. As jburns says, there has not been, and likely will not be, a patch release for v4.15 to include this. Is there a reason you are still using the EOL kernel series 4.15?

Excuse me. Which kind of issue occurs?
