Hi,

I am on Kernel 5.0.4 and i am trying to emerge 5.0.7 however when issuing the command:

Code:

sudo emerge =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-5.0.7

I get the following response

Code:

zsh: sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-5.0.7 not found

Any ideas?

Thanks

'not found' means there is no ebuild for it. Obviously the server he synced with didn't have it.

In zsh you have to do

Code:
sudo emerge "=sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-5.0.7"

as the = has some special function there.

This is a known anti-feature in zsh. It decided to do some special command line processing, failed, and then did not run emerge at all. Quoting the =, as hceline showed, can suppress this anti-feature. You could also try to turn it off entirely, or switch to a shell with fewer surprise features.

Which is a no-go then for me for such a shell.

Guys thanks as mentioned the '=' has a special feature and broke my emerge, auto unmasking 5.0.7 and adding " fixed my issue. Now happily on 5.0.7

I usually use \=, just a simple escape.
