Shouldn't make any difference. AFAIK, hibernate boots the kernel the same way as if you were booting without hibernate, then swaps in the stuff that was running when you hibernated. So the boot, and any initramfs stuff occurs before the resume.

LegionOfHell,

Like Goverp says.

You need two different boot stanzas in your boot loader, one for a cold boot, the other for resume.

In some cases, you can get by with a single stanza that will attempt to resume and, if no resume image is found, fall through to boot normally.

Separately, there is the question of whether you need an initramfs. That depends on how you are hibernating. For some cases, including when using an encrypted swap device, you need an initramfs to manage the resume. For very simple cases, the kernel can handle the resume on its own.
