|
|
I upgraded my cpu last week: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1095742.html
Not had much time to play with it but noticed time saved on emerge was nothing, same time to compile firefox as my old i3-4130 for example.
lscpu from Gentoo looks more like my old i3:
Code: | Architecture: x86_64
CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit
Byte Order: Little Endian
Address sizes: 39 bits physical, 48 bits virtual
CPU(s): 2
On-line CPU(s) list: 0,1
Thread(s) per core: 1
Core(s) per socket: 2
Socket(s): 1
Vendor ID: GenuineIntel
CPU family: 6
Model: 60
Model name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Stepping: 3
CPU MHz: 4190.469
CPU max MHz: 4400.0000
CPU min MHz: 800.0000
BogoMIPS: 7985.40

But when booting the void live image lscpu looks more like I was expecting:
Code: | Architecture: x86_64

I have updated the bios to support the newer chip but wondering why Gentoo doesn't seem to see all the cpus/cores/threads?

Please post your kernel config using wgetpaste. |

Proinsias,
How many cores does your kernel support?

Also, check if hyperthreading (CONFIG_SCHED_SMT) is enabled. |

ht should set 2 threads per core, so kernel lack ht support
and it should be 4 / socket, see NeddySeagoon suggest for that |
