Newbie here. I've installed Gentoo then Arch today and I have a pretty weird behaviour of grub bootloader. I've checked GRUB2 documentation but couldn't find solution. What happens is after I installed
Code:
os-prober
on gentoo and then invoked
Code:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
I rebooted and saw both Gentoo and Arch in the bootloader, but whichever option I chose it mixed up such as when I selected Arch then Gentoo loaded and when I select Gentoo then Gentoo filesystem loaded with Arch kernel (not sure if my terminology is correct). How am I fixing it?
I have trouble posting configs with just a tty but I try my best. Please note if I should add something.
Filesystem: gpt
Boot mode: UEFI
Boot partition: fat32
Code:
# gentoo etc/fstab
/dev/sda2   /boot   vfat defaults,noatime 0 2
/dev/sda3   none    swap sw 0 0
/dev/sda4   /    ext4 discard,noatime 0 1

/boot/grub/grub.cfg has all the options about which partitiony goes with which kernel messed up: http://dpaste.com/2K7ZPT3
Code:
fdisk -l
http://dpaste.com/3FXFMV0
Code:
ls -l /boot

kazimazi,

Welcome to Gentoo.

You need to use wgetpaste to past the contents of anything except small files.

Your /boot/grub/grub.cfg will really be useful as will your partitioning scheme. That will be shown by
Code:
fdisk -l

Code:
ls -l /boot
will be good too.

kazimazi,

We need the output of
Code:
/sbin/blkid
please.

Your /boot/grub/grub.cfg is self consistent. However, it refers to the root filesystem by its UUID, not the partition it is found on.
It appears that your /boot/grub/grub.cfg is for Gentoo only

The menuentry lines all mention GEntoo.
root=UUID=fb730bad-d5e5-4a6d-b13d-1d6cd35bcd8e is the same everywhere.

Code:
Apr 20 14:57 vmlinuz-linux
is an old kernel
Your gentoo kernel has genkernel in its name and is dated Apr 29.

Code:

was created with
Code:
pacstrap /mnt base
during Arch installation (which I've done after Gentoo install today, so the date on it is a bit missleading) if I'm not mistaken.
