drillsar,

a) your keyboard is broken.
b) you have an odd, perhaps corrupt key map
c) something trapped under the non operating keys, preventing their full travel.
d) something else

Does this happen in Xorg, the console, or both.
Does it only happen with this one keyboard.

drillsar,

One that works :)

I like a dvorak-uk layout. I also like keys I can feel move.
A long time ago I got to try a prototype Laser Projection Virtual Keyboard that projects a keyboard image on your desk and senses the keys you touch.
After 10 min, my fingertips were bruised. With practice, I would probably have got used to it.
Keyboards are personal.

"Best keyboard" is like best editor, best init system ... comments turn into flamewars and you topic is likely to get locked.

Do the faulty keys feel the same as the others?
Is this a laptop or a normal keyboard?

Some Microsoft keyboards need the hid-microsoft driver. You should also check Xorg.log for errors.
