I've found some related info here, but I have no idea how to apply this on the ebuild I'm running... any ideas?

Hey, thanks for the link, although it wasn't completely related, I discovered that I am on the 17.0 profile, that I have a long way to go to 17.1 and most importantly, that I was using the opencascade::gentoo instead of opencascade::waebbl, which solved my compilation problems :)!!

Duly masked:
Code:
=sci-libs/opencascade-7.3.0::gentoo

I'm curious... are you using an overlay for freecad? I do not see it in portage, and haven't for some time...

Code:
emerge -pv freecad

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "freecad".

emerge: searching for similar names...
emerge: Maybe you meant any of these: dev-java/forehead, app-text/reed, dev-haskell/free?

Code:
me@mymachine /usr/portage/media-gfx $ ls -ld free*
drwxr-xr-x 3 portage portage 4096 Jun 25  2018 freepv
drwxr-xr-x 3 portage portage 4096 Jun 25  2018 freewrl
me@maymachine /usr/portage/media-gfx $ ls -ld Free*
ls: cannot access 'Free*': No such file or directory
me@mymachine /usr/portage/media-gfx $

Yes, in RayOfLight's first post there is media-gfx/freecad-0.18.2-r1::waebbl
