Somehow my savedconfig got lost.

Following the wiki I determined loaded firmware by:
Code:
# dmesg | grep -i firmware
[    4.300121] [drm] Found UVD firmware Version: 1.64 Family ID: 9
[    4.350640] [drm] Found VCE firmware/feedback version 40.2.2 / 15!

However,
Code:
gentoo ~ # updatedb
gentoo ~ # grep UVD  `locate savedconfig`
grep: /etc/portage/savedconfig: Is a directory
grep: /etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-apps: Is a directory
grep: /etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel: Is a directory
gentoo ~ # grep UVD  `locate savedconfig`
grep: /etc/portage/savedconfig: Is a directory
grep: /etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-apps: Is a directory
grep: /etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel: Is a directory
gentoo ~ # locate savedconfig
/etc/portage/savedconfig
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-apps
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-apps/busybox-1.19.3-r1
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-apps/busybox-1.23.1-r1
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel/linux-firmware-20181216
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel/linux-firmware-20190118
/usr/portage/eclass/savedconfig.eclass
/usr/portage/eclass/tests/savedconfig.sh

This system has a Kaveri APU with no other GPU (it's a server) using the in-kernel r8169 ethernet driver.
Output of lscpu -> http://dpaste.com/276FMHF

EDIT: I was updating the kernel and during menuconfig I saw that I'm loading
Code:
radeon/R600_rlc.bin radeon/RS780_uvd.bin

That explains UVD.

I have the same NIC and I tried recently to do the same thing but I had problems with savedconfig USE flag for firmware package, so I gave up because of that.
That thread is here:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1097174-highlight-.html

I guess it's one of those in /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/ folder, most likely this one :
Code:
rtl8168h-1.fw

based on this :
Code:
# dmesg | grep -i rtl
[    0.523126] r8169 0000:03:00.0 eth0: RTL8168h/8111h, f4:b5:20:11:a4:8c, XID 541, IRQ 41

Code:
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel/linux-firmware-20181216
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel/linux-firmware-20190118
shold really just be
Code:
/etc/portage/savedconfig/sys-kernel/linux-firmware
if you omit the version part, it'll use the saved config when emerging new versions.
(Given that that's what you want ofcourse)
