"Hi

i'm running in the "AMD-Vi: No southbridge IOAPIC found in IVRS table" error when booting from the Archlinux bootable USB. This error is very well documented here: https://superuser.com/questions/1052023/ioapic0-not-in-ivrs-table

Although the fix doesn't work for me.

Weirdly enough, it doesn't happen when booting on the current Gentoo USB install image.

Is there a way to work out what differences in terms of boot options between the two images, could explain this ?

Gentoo kernel probably has no IOMMU support, thus no errors. IOMMU is needed to support certain virtual machine configurations. It is no use on installation media.

Try editing the kernel command line and adding amd_iommu=fullflush or amd_iommu=off. It'll likely solve your problem. I have the same issue on my intel setup. If I boot it with iommu support, I'm receiving all sorts of errors and sometimes booting just hangs. Adding this kernel parameter solves the issue.
