On boot I get
Code:
BTRFS error (device sdj1): devid 9 uuid 93e9ef10-blahblabhlah is missing
BTRFS error (devicesdj1): failed to read the system array: -2
BTRFS error (device sdj1): open_ctree failed
mount: mounting /dev/sdj1 on /newroot failed: invalid argument

And then I get dumped into a rescue shell.

The disk as far as I can tell registers when mounted in a liveusb as part of the volume, and mounts without issue.

I have tried these fixes:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1079474-start-0.html
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-938502-start-0.html
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Btrfs/System_Root_Guide#Mounting_rootfs_fails_when_using_btrfs_RAID

No dice.

Did you try

Code:

/sbin/btrfs device scan

and then again the mount?

Often initramfs systems have a problem with doing the scan. But for raid btrfs it is needed before the mount.

In the rescue shell?

Code:
/bin/ash: /sbin/btrfs: not found

Turns out I had to run genkernel with the --btrfs flag.
