I'm desperate. I wanted to reinstall the system by mistake and the desire for a UEFI boot. I have tried different servers because I remember that there were probs. The installation is ok until the chroot. Then emerge --sync also successful. But as soon as I want to install something I get the error
Code:
 /etc/portage/make.profile is not a symlink and will probably prevent most merges. !!! It should point into a profile within /usr/portage/profiles/ !!! (You can safely ignore this message when syncing. It's harmless.)

Why? What is wrong?
eselect profile list does not work synonymous and /etc/portage/make.conf I have adapted only USE. The link of make.profile in the folder / etc / portage is displayed in red. It points to ../../var/db/respos/gentoo/profiles/default/linux

mandyinkiel welcome to gentoo forums!

This mean that link is broken, effectively /var/db/respos/gentoo/profiles/default/linux isn't a correct path (in bold what is wrong if isn't a typo).
Remove link and use eselect for choose a profile
Code:
# rm /etc/portage/make.profile
# eselect profile set <profile_you_want>

@mandyinkiel,

From the picture shown in your linked JPEG image, you either (a) failed to properly get into the chroot or (b) accidentally exited out of the chroot. Try rejoining the Handbook install at the chrooting step.
