Hi all. I did an update world and sadly it updated nvidia-drivers without my noticing it. I had everything working with nvidia-driver-435.17 using the following xorg.conf on my laptop:

Code:

 Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "layout"
    Screen 0 "nvidia"
    Inactive "intel"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "nvidia"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "2:0:0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "nvidia"
    Device "nvidia"
    Option "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "intel"
    Driver "modesetting"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "intel"
    Device "intel"
EndSection

Section "Module"
    Load "dbe"
EndSection

This is basically nvidia's example with the BusID tweaked. Now, all I get is a black screen.

I had vulkan, steam, acceleration, etc. Could anyone please help me figure out what broke or just help me get back the driver version that worked? It is not in the portage tree and I was stupid and did not put it in my local repo.

Thanks.

Thanks for the tip - forgot about zugaina. Unfortunately, the ebuild there did not even build - apparently it is some experimental thing, not the same as what (was) in the tree.

*sigh*

Everything can be restored from git.

That's right... Can't believe I didn't think of that sooner. I can play Borderlands again. Thanks!
