I recently got myself a Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock (40AN0230US).
Here is the current status of hotplugging.
+ USBs work
+ Audio works
+ Ethernet Untested
+ Monitors do not work.
Basically my current issue is with the monitors.
I can't seem to get them to work properly.
Basically my dock connects to three monitors.
Two via display port and another via hdmi.
The displayport monitors don't register anything on their screen but xrandr claims that they are connected.
The HDMI one on the other hand does display some stuff, but its like half the screen is messed up.
A couple things. At first I though it could be a monitor issue, but whichever monitor I use the HDMI cable with seems to have this problem.
I thought perhaps the HDMI cable could be a problem, but it works just fine when its connected to the HDMI port on my laptop (I want to avoid using that however).
I then though that perhaps that I just have a faulty dock so I returned it and got myself a new one, but unfortunately the same issue arises.
I'm not sure what exactly is the issue. Its most likely kernel/driver related I think. Software wise, I'm confident that I'm setting it up correctly.
(Generated a script with arandr to toggle my dock monitors on/off binded to a keycombination).
Here is the output of lspci -v.
Here is my kernel config
I hope this helps. Let me know if you guys need anything else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to get this resolved as soon as possible because I would like to be able to return this if I can't get this to work as these docks are quite expensive.
EDIT: I have decided to return the dock. If I can't fix it, I might as well get my money back.
