# uname -a
Linux ciclo 4.19.86-gentoo #2 SMP Sat Nov 30 19:21:16 PST 2019 x86_64 AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
lspci
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Oland PRO [Radeon R7 240/340] (rev 87)

- Recompiled kernel using previous .config file.
- set kernel with eselect kernel set
- ran grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg then edited gtub.cfg buy adding
init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd
- reinstalled xorg drivers emerge x11-base/xorg-drivers
- my make.conf is set as : VIDEO_CARDS="amdgpu" and has worked until now.

I get the following error:

MESA-LOADER: failed to load driver: radeonsi (search paths /usr/lib64/dri)

Please throw me a bone.

cwc,

At face value, its trying to use the radeonsi dri driver and you don't have it.

You need
Code:
VIDEO_CARDS="amdgpu radeonsi"

The VIDEO_CARDS= use expand is used for several, not always correct on the surface things.
You need the Xorg driver that amdgpu pulls in and the mesa code that radeonsi builds.

It was nice and simple when VIDEO_CARDS= was introduced ...

Dude! That worked. VIDEO_CARDS="amdgpu radeonsi"
I was on the right track. I just need to rebuild world.
Thank You!

I'm not sure why things worked with VIDEO_CARDS="amdgpu" but all is good now.
