Hi,

I have new ryzen 3950X and have some issue with emerging elogind. Tried with also same configuration on some old intel laptop and it's working OK so I suppose that it's related to hardware. Compilation fail with these errors:

Code:
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc  -o test-sizeof 'test-sizeof@exe/src_test_test-sizeof.c.o' -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,-O1 -Wl,-z,relro -Wl,-z,now -fstac
k-protector -Wl,--gc-sections -O2 -pipe -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--start-group src/basic/libbasic.a -pthread /usr/lib64/libcap.so -lpthread -Wl,-wrap,pth
read_create -lpsx -lm -Wl,--end-group '-Wl,-rpath,$ORIGIN/src/basic' -Wl,-rpath-link,/var/tmp/portage/sys-auth/elogind-241.4/work/elogind-241.4-build/src/ba
sic
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/9.2.0/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lpsx
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Not sure what happening because I can't find anything about -lpsx and in compilation on working laptop there is no such option.

Any idea what's happening and how to fix it?

elogind doesn't use -lpsx at all, so the flag is likely pulled by a dependency (libcap's pkg-config)

libpsx seems to be only provided by libcap 2.29 if static-libs USE is used while 2.28 did not remove it.

Edit: updated info, solution is to update to libcap 2.29-r1

You might have another problem before that, as this error appears many times:
Code:
shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: No such file or directory

Maybe this works also for you?

Actually, please sync, update libcap to 2.29-r1, and try again.

There's this recent commit here... (the change probably made sense on paper during the 2.29 bump, such is life in ~unstable anyway).

Thanks a lot! Synced, upgraded libcap and now working like a charm :-)

nick_gentoo: I think thad I had pwd in shell with running emerge in some tmp directory, so these errors are probably related only to that pwd in shell was in non existent dir.
