I have an Nvidia GTX 770. I was using the nouveau driver but have decided to switch over to the official nvidia driver. However i cannot get rid of nouveau. It still loads on boot. I have added VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia" to make.conf. I then updated work with the new use flags which required adding abi_x86_32 and rebeuilt about 250 packages. i then did a emerge --depclean which uninstalled the nouveau driver. I rebuilt the kernel and removed nouveau support. i then created a new initramfs. I have blacked listed nouveau. Whenever i reboot nouveau is still loaded and tells me i cant unload it because its in use. cant modprove nvidia because the device is not found. What did i miss?

doralsoral,

You have done all the right things but I suspect that you are not using your new kernel.
What is the date and time in
Code:
uname -a

That's the build date/time of the running kernel. Does it fit with the build time of your nouveau free kernel?
