Just finished installing x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-440.44-r1 on sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-5.5.0 on Laptop with Prime Optimus.
Plasma desktop starts fine, but Prime V-Sync is turned off.

To turn on V-sync on 5.4 kernels i used patch: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1068045/5-4-kernel-breaks-prime-synchronization-/
But on the 5.5 kernel when using the same patch, portage applies the patch. nvidia-drivers build succesfully, however V-Sync is turned off.
"nvidia-drm.modeset=1" is set in /etc/default/grub
And this Xorg.conf worked on 5.4 kernels:
Code:
Section "Module"
    Load "modesetting"
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "nvidia"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    Option "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration"
EndSection

Is there any solution to turn on V-Sync on with nvidia Optimus Prime with 5.5.0 Kernels?
After searching the www i could not find any news regarding this topic yet. Hope someone can provide more insight.

Oh i forgot to mention the patch provided in the link in post #1 works on 5.4 kernel, on Arch GNU/Linux. And i never tested that patch on 5.4 kernel, on Gentoo GNU/Linux. Because V-Sync worked out of the box on Gentoo with 5.4 kernel.
For the moment i reverted back to kernel stable "-~amd64" on Gentoo to get V-Sync working. And wait until the V-Sync drama will get fixed on Prime Optimus on future kernels.

Code:
~ $ emerge --ask --verbose x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers
This action requires superuser access...
Would you like to add --pretend to options? [Yes/No] yes

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R    ] x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-440.59:0/440::gentoo  USE="X acpi driver gtk3 kms multilib tools uvm -compat -libglvnd -static-libs -wayland" ABI_X86="32 (64) (-x32)" 0 KiB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 KiB

Code:
~ $ emerge --ask --verbose sys-kernel/gentoo-sources
This action requires superuser access...

[ebuild   R    ] sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-5.5.2-r1:5.5.2-r1::gentoo  USE="-build -experimental -symlink" 0 KiB

$ nvidia-settings -> Prime Display: eDP-1-1 Synchronization: On
Did not need to patch or anything and no more tearing on Optimus Prime, Awesome!
