Hi folks,

Came back to Gentoo after a while - going with a luks+lvm+dracut install on my system.

Grub is installed fine on the EFI partition, i can boot the initramfs created by dracut but it never asks for my luks passphrase - ending invariably on a timeout by Dracut.
Code:
Starting dracut initqueue hook...
[ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/UUID=<luks partition UUID>
[DEPEND] Dependency failed for Cryptography Setup for luks-UUID=<luks partition UUID>

and never goes beyond that.

Using the following boot cmd:
Code:
rd.luks.uuid=UUID=<uuid of luks partition> root=UUID=<uuid of the xfs root LV>

Do i need to use crypt_root= instead? Or is that not used with dracut?

Replying on my own post:

Using dracut --print-cmdline is helpful.

I needed to pass
Code:
rd.luks.uuid=luks-<UUID of luks part>

and then it works.

welcome and thank you. :-)

I use "genkernel" but it is interesting to see other options.

for me: linux /kernel-genkernel-x86_64-4.19.97-gentoo root=UUID=<UUID>

I also have crypt_root=/dev/mdXXX and real_root=/dev/mapper/Volume_Group real_init=/sbin/init << no systemd here.

glad you fixed it yourself.

:)
