I'm having some problems configuring the kernel, when I use:
Code:
emerge --ask sys-kernel/gentoo-sources

it returns with a bunch of errors such as
Code:
Failed to emerge dev-libs/elfutils-0.177

and then it gives me a log file, I've tried multiple solutions and none have worked, any help?

Please post the full output of it, as well as the log file

Here's the first thing that draws attention:
Code:
checking whether the C compiler works... no
configure: error: in `/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/elfutils-0.177/work/elfutils-0.177-abi_x86_64.amd64':
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details

What is the output of
Code:
eselect gcc list

Please also post: /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/elfutils-0.177/work/elfutils-0.177-abi_x86_64.amd64/config.log

Output of 'eselect gcc list':
Code:
[1]x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-9.2.0

Output of that one long strinf for the 'config.log' file:

Code:
configure:3672: checking whether the C compiler works
configure:3694: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc march=core2 -O2 -pipe  -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed conftest.c  >&5
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: error: march=core2: No such file or directory
Seems to be missing a '-' to -march, may want to check your CFLAGS in /etc/portage/make.conf

For starters, try giving it a
Code:
eselect gcc set 1
and/or
Code:
gcc-config 1

...and try emerging again. I'm looking through that log file now.

All I had to do was add that '-' to the 'march' it finally worked, thanks! :D
