Does anyone know what these last two lines mean?
Code:
[ 1000.955301] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
[ 1000.955689] pcmcia 0.0: pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0 (IRQ: 16)
[ 1000.959455] serial_cs 0.0: trying to set up [0x0157:0x0100] (pfc: 0, multi: 1, quirk: 00000000d83a8271)
[ 1000.959514] serial_cs 0.0: speaker requested, but PRESENT_STATUS not set!

I have a PCMCIA smart card reader that communicates via serial. When I plug it in, I get the above DMESG output. I can't communicate with it.
Is this just an incorrect driver for the reader? Or is there something misconfigured with the kernel (I'm looking at the PRESENT_STATUS thing... what's that?)?

https://www.elinux.org/Flameman/pcmcia explains the PRESENT_STATUS part. Fixed the last line by adding
Code:
module "serial_cs" opts "do_sound=0"
to /etc/pcmcia/config.opts to disable speaker output (there is no speaker).

I can infer that since the 3rd line says "trying to set up" that it isn't completing setup.
