up to yesterday, kernel's make install was installing versionned files in /boot, e.g.
Code:
 ls -l /boot/*5.6.6*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  102894 avril 21 19:27 /boot/config-5.6.6-gentoo-classic
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2312979 avril 21 19:27 /boot/System.map-5.6.6-gentoo-classic
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5470256 avril 21 19:27 /boot/vmlinuz-5.6.6-gentoo-classic
now it installs as 8O
Code:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2266730 avril 23 20:16 /boot/System.map
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5366320 avril 23 20:16 /boot/vmlinuz

directory in /lib/modules remains versioned, though.

Didn't test if working yet.

As a side note, sys-libs/glibc-2.29 upgraded to sys-libs/glibc-2.30 in between.
Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

The thing responsible for installing in /boot is installkernel, which are you using? installkernel-gentoo or installkernel-systemd-boot?

Never tried the latter myself, and there's been no major changes to installkernel-gentoo I can see. Are you using a custom /etc/kernel/postinst.d script?

Edit: oh wait, I know what happened, if installkernel is missing entirely it installs unversioned, I'm guessing you depcleaned it

installkernel flag would be default, are you _still_ using -* globally? :?

Perhaps you should remove your USE=-*, as multiple people suggested to you the last time that caused you problems.
